Making Agave Wine

by David

OK, so I’m hooked, all I can think about is wine making. What kind of wine I am going to try to make and when I am going to make my next batch of wine.  I’m really in to doing some crazy stuff.  So my third batch of wine I am making is Agave Wine. Which is basically un-distilled Tequila

Batch Data:

Agave light
70.5 oz Lavin EC-1118

Starting Conditions:

Starting Gravity 1.16

So, that is all the specifics.  I used Limes for the nutrient because when you mention Agave and Tequila I just naturally think of limes.  I bought the Agave at Wal-Mart (See Picture Below).  They had light and dark; I went with the light but am already looking forward to making some out of Dark. I’m curious if anyone out there has made anything like this before, I’d love your input. We’ll have to see how it turns out.

I have a friend that makes this quite frequently. It always turns out amazing! He doesnt even really use SG or anything like that. This guy is hillbilly as hell! lol He just uses one bottle agave and water to a gallon. 1 1/2 C Sugar to start. And probably another C somewhere along the line makes this stuff very drinkable. PLEASE try this! It’s definitely worth doing. lol
